SEED MONEY GRANT (SMG):

Funds provided to the Full time faculty members by the Institute for initiation of research or to facilitate the preparation of a formal research proposal for funding

SEED MONEY REVIEW COMMITTEE:

The committee constituted by the Principal/Director for review the seed money grant proposals. Two Professors of the IQAC and Two senior professors of the Department will be as committee members, in which the Coordinator of IQAC as Convenor.

OBJECTIVES OF THE SEED MONEY GRANT:

The main objective of SMG scheme is to inculcate and nurture research culture among fulltime faculty members by providing small grants for development of research ideas, basic facility creation or related academic/extension works.

The SMG provides guidelines to carryout research/create ecosystem for research/facility creation or upgradation/e-content development/MOOC course / other research related activities for developing their career at MLRITM.

Through SGM, it is envisaged to develop novel ideas as well as building confidence among the newly recruited faculty members to prepare and apply for national and international fundings/collaborations/ other academic activities in future.

ELIGIBILITY:

All fulltime/Permanent faculty members of the MLRITM are eligible for SMG and preference will be given to Assistant Professors.

PROCEDURE OF SMG:

1. The IQAC of the Institute may invite proposals by the faculty members as “Seed Money Grant’ Proposal invitation and the same should circulate among the departments through proper notification.
2. Interested faculty must submit their proposal in prescribed format to the Coordinator, IQAC of MLRITM with necessary supporting documents including a financial budget.
3. The Principal/Director of MLRITM will constitute as screening committee to review the proposals. The committee can call the PI for face-to face interview/presentation if necessary.
4. The report of the screening committee will be submitted to the Coordinator of IQAC along with the recommendation of committee.
5. The Principal/Director of MLRITM can approve or reject the proposal.
6. If the proposal is rejected, the faculty member may reapply after incorporating the suggestions/recommendations of the screening committee.
7. If the proposal is approved, it will be forwarded to the Finance Section for the release of funds. Similarly, the sanction letter will be circulate the necessary sections as well as to the PI.
8. After issuing the sanction order, the PI can commence their research work.

EVALUATION:

1. The PI must submit a half yearly report to the IQAC detailing the progress of the research
2. The Coordinator IQAC is authorized to withhold the funding at any stage based on recommendations of the evaluation committee satisfaction report.
3. At the end of the project, a detailed report must be submitted to the IQAC by the PI. The report must include the workdone, the output produced and UCs.
